As part of establishing a new research area focused on wood-based value chains, we are looking for a committed Forestry Scientist (m/f/d) starting on May 1, 2026 (initially limited until December 31, 2027). The position involves contributing to teaching and research at our locations in Erfurt, Weimar, and Suhl. Opportunities for extension and long-term employment are available.

Your tasks
  • Contribute to the development and expansion of the research field of wood-based value chains
  • Plan, prepare, and support applied research projects
  • Analyze, document, and evaluate experimental results in collaboration with scientific staff
  • Conduct teaching (lectures, seminars, practical sessions, excursions) in the fields of forest operations, forest engineering, and forest utilization
  • Collaborate with industry partners in a practice-oriented manner
Your skills
  • Degree in wood technology, wood engineering, or a comparable qualification
  • Solid knowledge of wood processing and handling of wood-processing machinery
  • Interest in application-oriented, research-related work
  • Structured, independent, and careful working style
  • Team player with enthusiasm for building new structures and processes
  • Very good German skills (native or at least B2 level) and good English skills (at least B1), both written and spoken
  • Valid driver’s license (Class B)
