The IAB Weimar is an innovative and successful industry-oriented research institute focused on the development of new devices, processes, and materials for the construction industry. With 130 employees, we have been supporting our partners and clients for 30 years with practical research and development as well as application-oriented services.

For our Department of Manufacturing and Measurement Systems in the Process Engineering Research Division, we are looking for a research associate in production engineering as soon as possible. The focus will be on the holistic analysis of concrete product manufacturing.

Responsibilities
  • Planning, execution, and documentation of research and development projects in the fields of mechanical engineering, concrete product manufacturing, and plant and process engineering
  • Holistic analysis of building material production (primarily concrete products) with a focus on lean production, quality assurance, digitalization, resource efficiency, and knowledge management
  • Coordination and management of research projects and industrial assignments in collaboration with partners from industry, business, and research
  • System planning, process analysis, and optimization of the institute’s own machinery and equipment as well as industrial production systems
  • Planning, setup, and commissioning of test stands, as well as supervision of test campaigns in the institute's own technical facilities (material analysis, sorting, and production)
Qualifications
  • Completed studies in industrial engineering or mechanical engineering with a focus on lean production, production technology, process automation, process engineering, or a comparable technical qualification
  • Industry knowledge in concrete product manufacturing is desirable
  • Basic knowledge of statistics and Six Sigma
  • Experience with CAD programs (e.g., Autodesk Inventor) is an advantage
  • Experience in project management
  • Independent, self-reliant, and structured working style
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Good German language skills (Level B2) and English language skills (Level B1), both written and spoken
  • Class B driver's license
